Leave work around 3:30 go home and change cars then head over to see what BMWs they’ve got on display. Since it’s only 15 minutes from where I live, it’s not that ridiculous. It also looks like it’s finally reopened:

I always imagine they have a glass case with the first X5 in it, along with a historical plaque describing the luxury SUV boom and how people of the early 2000s though ;)

The Mercedes factory here in AL isn’t far off from that, but does have some M-B race cars, early Smarts, etc.

I went there once while travelling for work in 2003. I only spent maybe 15-20 minutes looking around before leaving, as I still had to drive back to Ohio. I’ve never been back since, and I’d really like to visit longer.
